Attorney Tracie Melvin of Dothan, AL; ethical goblin

The state of Alabama presented Tracie Tawana Melvin with a law license in 2004 after she graduated from the University of Iowa School of Law.

The Alabama State Bar Association found Tracie guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engage in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation
  • Committed a criminal act that reflects adversely on the lawyer’s honesty, trustworthiness, or fitness as a lawyer in other respects
  • Engaged in conduct that is prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice law
  • Disclosed confidential attorney information
  • Failed to treat opposing counsel/party with respect
  • Posted derogatory and untruthful statements about the judge and the incident in his courtroom on social media

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished Tracie by gifting her with a complimentary 91-day suspension of her law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2020), Tracie practices with Legal Services Alabama at 224 West Main Street in Dothan, Alabama.
