Attorney Melissa Deutsch of Austin; ethical troll

The state of Texas presented Melissa Ann Deutsch (MAD) with a law license in 2009 after she graduated from Southern Methodist University (SMU) School of Law.

The District 9 Grievance Committee found Melissa guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to respond to client calls and emails
• Closed her law practice without notify her client
• Promised client she would return client file, and invoice for services rendered and refund of any unused fees
• Failed to make good on promise to return file/unused fees until after being served with ethics complaint on year later

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Melissa by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. June 2020) Melissa practices with Texas Legal Services Center in Austin, Texas.
