Solicitor Mary O’Connor of Dublin, Ireland; ethical goblin

The Law Society of Ireland presented Mary O’Connor with a law license in 1997 after she graduated from Queen’s University School of Law.

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found Mary guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to provide her client with particulars in writing of the actual charges
  • Failed to provide her client with an estimate of the charges
  • Failed to provide her client with any information on the basis on which the charges would be made
  • Failed to inform her client in writing of the client’s right to require a solicitor to submit a bill of costs to a taxing master of the High Court for taxation on a solicitor and own client basis

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Solicitor Misfits sitting on the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal punished Mary by gifting her with a complimentary censure and imposed a fine of €2,000.

As we speak (ca. June 2020), Mary  practices with Mary O’Connor & Company at 90 Marlborough Road, Donnybrook in Dublin, Ireland.
