Attorney Roderick Smith of Kansas City, MO; cheating slacker

The state of Missouri presented Roderick E. Smith with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Rod guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Provided inaccurate information to ethics investigators to avoid discipline (Screw you, said Rod!)
  • Failed to provide competent representation (moron)
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Charged and/or collected a clearly excessive fee (cheater)
  • Failed to expedite client litigation
  • Failed to act with candor toward a tribunal
  • Failed to decline or terminate representation when required to so act

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary punished Rod by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Rod fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.rjdsllc.com. Apparently, he decided to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients so that he would not limit his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. June 2020), Rod practices with the Law Firm of Roderick E. Smith at 3331 Woodland Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.
