Attorney Theodore N. Cox of New York City; serial liar, Dufus

The state of New York presented Theodore N. Cox with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from the Brooklyn Law School.

In late 2011, the Departmental Disciplinary Committee for the First Judicial Department found Teddy guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice (aka, obstruction of justice)
  2. Conduct reflecting on his unfitness to practice law (Dufus)
  3. Knowingly disregarded court rules
  4. Habitually violated rules of court procedure
  5. Submitted at least 5 false affidavits (perjury) regarding service of appeal briefs with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit
  6. Repeatedly filed appellate briefs with the 2nd Circuit past the deadlines for so acting
  7. Was fined $700 for his frivolous conduct by the 2nd Circuit and issued a reprimand
As a consequence of his misconduct, the New York Supreme Court punished Teddy by gifting him with a reprimand.

Because Attorney Misfits are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Teddy was never criminally charged with perjury even though he filed at least 5 false affidavits with the Circuit Court of Appeals.

As we speak (ca. April 2012) Theodore practices his brand of law at 401 Broadway in New York City.
