Attorney Shawntae Crews of Charlotte, NC; ethical goblin

The state of North Carolina presented Shawntae Renee Crews with a law license in 2015 after she graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Shawntae guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to promptly deposit entrusted funds into an attorney trust account
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
• Failed to disburse settlement funds to her client when her client was not then entitled to the funds
• Engaged in dishonest conduct by deliberately failing to abide by the conditions under which she received client settlement funds

As a direct consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Shawntae by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. May 2021), Shawntae practices at 725 East Trade Street in Charlotte, North Carolina.
