Attorney Steven Simpson of Raleigh, NC; fraudster, loser

The state of North Carolina presented Steven D. Simpson with a law license in 1984 after he graduated from Wake Forest University of School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Stevie guilty of the following misconduct.

• In signing the client bankruptcy petition on behalf of his clients, the petition falsely indicated that all of their debts had been disclosed to the court
• Failed to disclose to the Bankruptcy court that his clients owed him attorney’s fees for representing them in their tax case
• Failed to file schedules in Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing on client’s behalf
• Chapter 13 filings were incomplete and contained discrepancies in the schedules
• Charged a fee that either illegal or clearly excessive (cheater)
• Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
• Charged client $7,400.00 for Chapter 13 filing when the standard base fee in the Eastern District of North Carolina is $1,400.00, which includes time spent counseling the clients whether to file, preparation of the petition and any research time required to prepare the petition
• Engaged in a conflict of interest in representing bankruptcy debtors in their bankruptcy action when he was a creditor

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.  

As we speak (ca. June 2020), Stevie practices at 409 Hillandale Drive in Raleigh, North Carolina.
