Attorney Michael Strickland of Raleigh, NC; ethical troll

The state of North Carolina presented Michael W. Strickland with a law license in 1990 after he graduated from Campbell University of School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Mikey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Mikey!)
  • Pursued an action that was not warranted under the facts or under the law
  • Trial court noted that Mikey’s excessive delay in scheduling a hearing at which he challenged guardianship fees was “unreasonable” and “worked to the disadvantage, injury and prejudice of the guardian
  • Gave misleading response to question from ethics investigators (Up yours, said Mikey!)
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • In accepting employment to represent an estate, Mikey improperly undertook action to have one co-executor removed
  • Used means that had no substantial purpose other than to embarrass, delay, or burden a third person

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. June 2020), Mikey practices with Michael W. Strickland & Associates PA at 301 Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh, North Carolina.
