Attorney Judy Rudolph of Weaverville, NC; cheating slacker

The state of North Carolina presented Judy Nicholson Rudolph with a law license in 1992 after she graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Judy guilty of the following misconduct.

• Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
• Exhibited indifference to making restitution to her client
• Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Judy!)
• Misconduct involved multiple offenses
• Failed to prepare will for client after accepting a fee to so act
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to communicate with her client for nearly a year after agreeing to prepare his will
• Failed to keep a client reasonably informed about the status of the matter
• Failed to comply with the client's reasonable requests for information
• Charged a clearly excessive fee (cheater)
• Failed to participate in mandatory fee dispute resolution process (Screw you, said Judy!)
• Failed to respond to repeated client attempts to contact her
• Ordered to make restitution in the amount of $2,611.00 to six clients

As a direct consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Judy by gifting her with a complimentary stayed 3-year suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the North Carolina Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Judy.
