Attorney John Orcutt of Oak Island, NC; ambulance chaser, serial offender

The state of North Carolina presented John T. Orcutt with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from the Albany School of Law.

FYI: Albany Law School is ranked as the 138th best law school in the country out of 202 ABA accredited schools.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Johnny guilty of the following misconduct.

Johnny’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Permitted non-attorney to engage in illegal practice of law
  • Knew or should have known that employee was giving legal advice to prospective clients
  • Failed to take corrective action re: employee’s illegal practice of law

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

Johnny’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  • Misconduct involved multiple offense
  • Engaged in illegal practice of law while license suspended

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 1-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the North Carolina Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Johnny.

Johnny’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Sent solicitation (ambulance chasing) letters via direct mail containing false and/or misleading statements about Johnny’s services compared to other law firms that could not factually be substantiated

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. June 2020) Johnny practices at 149 Oceangreens Lane in Oak Island, North Carolina.
