Attorney Barry Nakell of Chapel Hill, NC; repeat shoplifter

The state of North Carolina presented Barry D. Nakell with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from the University of Illinois School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Barry guilty of the following misconduct.

Barry’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  • Engaged in criminal conduct
  • Intentionally concealed and took away a copy of the book, A Civil Action, from the Encore Bookstore
  • Concealed the book under his newspaper and left the Encore Bookstore without paying for the book
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
  • Plead guilty to the crime of larceny for stealing the book

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Barry by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 4-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the North Carolina Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Barry.

Barry’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Concealed a Triangle Dining Guide valued at $30 and $6 work of deli food in his jacked at a Southern Sean in Chapel Hill
  • Criminally charged with shoplifting
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Floyd by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. June 2020) Barry practices at 149 Dixie Drive in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
