Attorney Deborah Koenig of Fayetteville, NC; ethical goblin

The state of North Carolina presented Deborah B. Koenig with a law license in 1984 after she graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Debbie guilty of the following misconduct.

• Used confidential information of a client to the disadvantage of the client
• Improperly revealed personal confidential information regarding sexual harassment against the Sheriff without the consent or knowledge of the Sheriff
• Failed to act in the best interest of her client
• By failing to fully counsel the Sheriff on her concerns and his obligations regarding the sexual harassment claims, Debbie failed to explain a matter to the extent necessary to permit a client to make an informed decision on his legal obligations
• Failed to withdraw representation of a client when withdrawal was mandatory

As a direct consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Debbie by gifting her with a complimentary admonishment.  

As we speak (ca. June 2020) Debbie practices in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
