Attorney Lynne Hicks of Mocksville, NC; ethical goblin

The state of North Carolina presented Lynne Hicks with a law license in 1983 after she graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law.  

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Lynne guilty of the following misconduct.

• Misconduct involved multiple offenses
• Failed to personally conduct quarterly reconciliations of her trust account
• Failed to ensure staff to whom she delegated the duty of conducting quarterly reconciliations did so accurately
• Failed to personally maintain ledgers containing records of receipts and disbursements for each client

As a direct consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Lynne by gifting her with a complimentary stayed 3-year suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Grievance Committee didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Lynne.
