Attorney Martin Brennan Jr. of Huntersville, NC; tax cheat

 

The state of North Carolina presented Martin M. Brennan Jr. with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from Duquesne University School of Law.  

 

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Marty guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
  • Knowingly and willingly misapplied or converted to his own use funds he withheld from client’s paycheck to cover portion of insurance premiums that the client did not pay to the insurer
  • Committed criminal act adversely reflecting on fitness to practice  
  • Failed to remit to IRS funds he withheld from employee checks for at least three quarters
  • IRS filed tax lien against Marty and his firm in the amount of $23,785.61
  • Over the course of several months, converted to his own use of the use of another the funds withheld from employees that he did not remit to the IRS
  • Failure to collect, account for, and pay any tax imposed by the IRS is a felony

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Marty by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

As we speak (ca. June 2020) Marty practices with the Brennan Law Firm PLLC at 13801 Reese Blvd in Huntersville, North Carolina.
