Attorney Chris Godwin of Fayetteville, NC; convicted druggie, repeater

The state of North Carolina presented Chris Bolton Godwin with a law license in 1979 after he graduated from Wake Forest University Law School.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Chris guilty of the following misconduct.

Chris’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Convicted of one count of possession of cocaine

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Chris by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.  

Chris’s 2^nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to take appropriate steps to rectify the matter even when given several opportunities to so act before the ethics grievance was filed
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Negligence created cloud on client’s title to properly and jeopardized the lender’s security on its loan to the client
• Failed to perform quarterly reconciliations of trust account
• Failed to follow-up on the original closing to prepare a proper final title opinion within reasonable time after the closing
• Failed to prepare proper final title opinion

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Chris by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. May 2020) Chris practices with Christopher B. Godwin PC at 2513 Raeford Road in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
