Judge Lyle Riggs of Maricopa, AZ; ethical troll

The state of Arizona presented Allan Ray Bertram with a law license in 1995 after she graduated from Drake University School of Law.

The Commission on Judicial Conduct fund Judge Rigss guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Found Stokley A. Chaffee in criminal contempt and ordered his arrest
  • Ordered Mr. Chaffee be imprisoned for thirty days on criminal contempt charge
  • Judge Rigg’s order was issued without notice and opportunity for Mr. Chaffee to be heard
  • Judge Rigg’s failed to appoint counsel for Mr. Chaffee
  • Upon review by the Presiding Judge for the Pinal County Superior Court regarding due process concerns about the contemomt order, the contempt ciation was vacated
  • Deprived Mr. Chaffee of his constitutional right to be heard (due process)
  • Failed to remain patient and courteous when dealing with Mr. Chaffee
  • Abused the prestige of his judicial office when he ordered law enforcement to arrest Mr. Chaffee
  • Failed to avoid the appearance of impropriety
  • Failed to uphold and apply the law

Apparently, Judge Riggs is of the opinion that “due process” is the means by which the grass becomes moist in he a.m.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Conduct Commission punished Judge Riggs by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. May 2020), Lyle continues to sit as a Precinct 4, Western Pinal Justice Court Judge in Maricopa, Arizona.
