Judge Demosthenes Magallanes of the Philippines; slacker extraordinaire

The Philippine Supreme Court provided Demosthenes L. Magallanes with a law license in 1968 after he graduated from the University of the Philippines School of Law.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines found Demi guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to resolve a civil case for more than five (5) years
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Republic of the Philippines Supreme Court punished Alan by gifting him with a complimentary Twenty Thousand Pesos (P20,000) fine.

It should be noted that had Judge Magallanes acted in the same negligent manner as a Common Pleas Judge in Ohio or a Superior Court judge in California disciplinary charges would never have been filed against him.

As we speak (ca. April 2020), Demi continues to sit as a Regional Trial Court Judge in Bago City, Philippines.
