Judge Jose Caoibes Jr. of the Philippines; slacker, loser

The Philippine Supreme Court provided Jose F. Caoibes Jr. with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from the University of the Philippines School of Law.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines found Judge Caoibes guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to rule on a pending motion for seventeen (17) months
  • Failed to rule on pending motion despite being the recipient of three (3) urgent motions for early resolution filed by the moving party

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Republic of the Philippines Supreme Court punished Jose by gifting him with a complimentary Forty Thousand Pesos (P40,000) fine and a warning that similar conduct in the future would be dealt with more severely.

It should be noted that had Judge Caoibes acted in the same negligent manner as a Common Pleas Judge in Ohio or a Superior Court judge in California disciplinary charges would never have been filed against him.

As we speak (ca. May 2020), Jose continues to sit as a First Municipal Circuit Trial Court Judge in Balayan, Batangas, Philippines.
