Attorney Amy L. Nussbaum of New York City; repeat offender, ethical troll

The state of New York presented Amy Lauren Nussbaum with a law license in 1987 after she graduated from Benjamin Cordoza Law School.

In February 2012, the Disciplinary Committee for the First Judicial Department found Amy guilty of the following misconduct in regards to her conduct involving bankruptcy cases.
  • Systematic violations of court scheduling orders
  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  • Her serial misconduct was intentional
  • Repeatedly filed bankruptcy petitions even though she wasn’t admitted to practice in said court
  • Failing to communicate with clients about pending deportation matters
This wasn’t Amy’s first bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. In 2004 she was admonished for missing a hearing, resulting in a deportation order for her client, and for intentionally failing to file a motion to reopen the hearing.

In 2006, Amy’s firm was admonished for not filing an appeal brief in the Second Circuit for which she was personally responsible.

As a consequence of being found guilty of misconduct for the third time, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Committee punished Amy by gifting her with a reprimand.

As we speak (ca. April 2012) Amy is practicing law with Gell & Gell at 299 Broadway in New York City.
