Attorney Brandon Hanson of Ord, NE; ethical goblin

The state of Nebraska presented Brandon Hanson with a law license in 2011 after he graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Law.

The State Bar Court found Baird guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was employed as the Valley County in Ord, Nebraska.

  • Helped his girlfriend file two lawsuits against a private citizen over a social media post alleging she had been terminated from her job as a jailer/dispatcher at the sheriff's office because she had been intoxicated at work
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • At the time his girlfriend was fired, Brandon was running for reelection as the Valley County Attorney in a contested primary election
  • Failed to include mandatory notation on court filings he prepared for his girlfriend indicating that he had in fact been the author of said pleadings
  • Abused his public office
  • Violated or attempted to violate the Rules of Professional Conduct, knowingly assisted or induced another to do so or did so through the acts of another

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the State Bar Court punished Baird by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. May 2020), Brandon practices with the Hanson Law Offices in Ord, Nebraska.
