Attorney Stephen Nelson of Alberta, CAN; liar, repeat offender

 

The Law Society of Alberta presented Stephen B. Nelson with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from the University of Calgary School of Law.

 

The Alberta Law Society Disciplinary Counsel found Stevie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

 

Stevie’s 1st bite at the Solicitor Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to supervise his paralegal
  • Never reviewed any of the physical files in his possession
  • Was not aware of the solicitor instructions provided by lenders
  • Paid no attention to his law practice
  • Ignored a trust condition that was imposed
  • Completely abdicated his responsibilities in respect of his real estate practice
  • Never met with any of the purchasers instead relying upon a paralegal to do the work for him in circumstances where he probably ought not to have trusted the
  • paralegal to know or understand the full extent of the nature of the transaction

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Counsel punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary 12-month suspension of his law license.

 

Stevie’s 2nd bite at the Solicitor Misfit Apple Tree

  • Signed powers of attorney as a witness to the donor’s signature and swore to having witnessed the signatures without having been present to witness same
  • Assisted a client in an improper purpose
  • Failed to conscientiously serve his clients, the mortgage lenders
  • Failed to conscientiously serve his clients, the purchasers
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Knowingly breached a trust condition
  • Failed to properly supervise office staff
  • Failed to follow accounting rules of the Law Society of Alberta

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Counsel punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and assessed costs of $3,500.00.

 

As we speak (ca. May 2020) Stevie practices at 2120 Kensington Road NW in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
