Attorney Dorene Philpot of Indianapolis, IN; ethical gremlin

The state of Indiana provided Dorene Jackson Philpot with a law license in 2000 after she graduated from the Indiana University School of Law.

The Indiana Disciplinary Commission found Dorene guilty of the following misconduct.

  • After being hired to file a dissolution of marriage and without consulting with her client, Dorene hired another attorney to research an issue in the case
  • Violated prohibition of dividing fees between lawyers not in the same firm without the consent of the client
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Indiana Supreme Court punished Dorene by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As one would suspect, Dorene and her firm fail to mention the misconduct set forth above on their self-serving website at www.dphilpotlaw.com. Apparently, they decided to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients so that he would not limit his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. August 2020), Dorene practices with the Philpot Law Office at 390 West 75th Street in Indianapolis, Indiana.
