Attorney Lester Cannain of Albuquerque, NM; ethical ogre

The state of New Mexico presented Lester C. Cannain with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from Syracuse University School of Law.

The New Mexico Disciplinary Board found Lester guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Committed several trust account infractions
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Made personal disbursements and cash withdrawals from trust account
  • Failed to maintain separate ledgers for clients whose funds he held in trust
  • Failed to maintain proper records of deposits and withdrawals
  • Failed to perform reconciliations of his trust account checkbook balance, and bank statement balance and client trust ledger sheets
  • On several occasions, Lester advanced costs from trust for clients who did not have funds on deposit in the trust account

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Mexico Supreme Court punished Lester by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. April 2020), Lester practices with Lester C. Cannain Attorney at Law the Roger Moore Law Office at 924 Sandia Road NW in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
