Attorney James Monsebroten of Coos Bay, OR; slacker, loser

The State of Oregon presented James M. Monsebroten with a law license in 1997 after he graduated from Williamette University School of Law.

FYI: Williamette University School of Law is ranked as the 178^th best law school in the country out of 202 ABA (American Bar Association) accredited law schools

The Disciplinary Counsel found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct.

• Misconduct involved multiple offenses
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to include the required language in his fee agreement that the client may be entitled to a refund
• Violated his duty to hold client property separate from the lawyer’s own property
• Because an earned-on-receipt fee agreement that does not strictly comply with RPC 1.5(c)(3) is invalid and any funds received from the client must be deposited in trust until earned
• Failed to provide clients with opportunity to review proposed order by opposing counsel and negotiate more favorable wording

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Oregon Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As one would suspect, Jimmy fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.attorneycoos.com. Apparently, Jimmy decided to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients so that he would not limit his future victim pool.
