Judge Gena Slaughter of Dallas, TX; serial deadbeat and scofflaw

The state of Texas provided Brittny Lewton with a law license in 1999 after she graduated from Sothern Methodist University (SMU) College of Law.

The Judicial Commission found Gena guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• 09/01/2013 thru 09/06/2013 – license suspended for failure to pay annual bar dues
• 09/01/2015 thru 09/22/2015 – license suspended for failure to pay annual bar dues
• 09/01/2016 thru 09/26/2016 – license suspended for failure to pay annual bar dues
• 09/01/2017 thru 11/01/2017 – license suspended for failure to pay annual bar dues
• 09/01/2018 thru 06/29/2019 – license suspended for failure to pay annual bar dues
• Failed to comply with the law [scofflaw]
• Failed to act in a manner that promotes public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary
• Engaged in willful violation of the Code of Judicial Conduct
• Misconduct cast public discredit upon the administration of justice
• Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Gena!)

It should be noted that a judge in Texas is required under law to be lawfully licensed by the state to practice law. Therefore, any decisions rendered by Gena while her law license was suspended may well have been illegal, leaving the affected party with the possibility of successfully moving to have said rulings voided.

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Gena by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. March 2020), Gena continues to sit as a 19^th District Civil Court Judge in Dallas, Texas.
