Judge Michelle Homier of Canton, GA; ethical troll

The state of Montana presented Michelle Homier with a law license in 2003 after she graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law.

It should be noted that Michelle has had her significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the past seventeen (17) years. Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Cherokee County area.

  • Has a history of handing down lenient sentences
  • Repeatedly failed to follow state required minimum sentences minimums for a repeat domestic abuser and multiple DUI drivers
  • David Kemp arrested twice for family violence (hitting his wife) and for violating protective order
  • When prosecutors demanded that Michelle sentence Mr. Kemp to a family violence intervention program that was required under Georgia law for habitual domestic violence offenders, she refused to follow the law
  • Rather than abide by the law re: Mr. Kemp, Michelle gave him time served and ordered him to anger management; however, he subsequently severely beat her, nearly killing her and was sentenced to 40 years in prison
  • In case involving man charged with driving 106 mph in a 65-mph speed limit, Michelle went to the clerk’s office and reduced the driver’s speed to 84-mph; she laughingly wrote this was done “in the interests of justice
  • In case involving a driver charged with his second DUI offense in five years, Michelle’s sentence recommendation was so lenient that it forced another judge to reset sentencing in the case for another three months
  • Michelle has sentenced at least seven repeat DUI offenders below what the state law requires from 2016 to 2019
  • Repeat DUI offender Jamie McKenzie was arrested for his third DUI in ten years in June 2018 while he was on probation for another DUI offense when it happened and contrary to state law, Michelle sentenced him to a three days rather than the mandatory 15 days required by state law

Unfortunately for the citizens of Cherokee County, Michelle will not likely face any problems with the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Qualifications Commission or the Georgia Supreme Court for the egregious misconduct set forth above.

As we speak (ca. February 2020), Michelle continues to sit as a Cherokee County District Court judge in Canton, Georgia.
