Attorney Charles Fair of Calgary, Canada; ethical leper-con

The Law Society of Alberta found Charles Fair guilty of the following failures that constituted misconduct.
  1. Failed to be courteous and candid in his dealings with several clients
  2. Failed to conscientiously represent and serve his clients
  3. Failed to use reasonable efforts to ensure clients understood his advice and recommendations
  4. Failed to be punctual in fulfilling commitments to his clients
  5. Failed to respond to communications from his clients on a timely basis
  6. When discharged, failed to avoid prejudicing his clients
  7. Failed to respect and uphold the by not reimbursing clients for unearned fees
  8. Failed to timely respond in an appropriate manner to requests from the Law Society
  9. Charged his clients excessive fees
  10. Failed to return file to client when discharged
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers at the Law Society punished Charles by gifting him with a public reprimand and a $2,000 fine.

In a lame attempt at levity, the Law Society gave Charlie two years to pay the $2,000 fine. This means all he has to pay is $83.33 per month.

As we speak (ca. April 2012), Charles practices law at Charles Fair Law at 11012 Macleod Trail South in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
