Attorney David Christensen of Southfield, MI; ethical ogre

The state of Michigan provided David E. Christensen with a law license in 1991 after she graduated from the University of Michigan School of Law.

The Tri-County Hearing Panel No. 60 found Davey guilty of the following misconduct.

• Committed acts of professional misconduct by entering into independent contractor agreement with Michigan Auto Law when he handled cases
• through his own professional corporation where the clients had already entered into contingent fee agreements with Michigan Auto Law
• Failed to enter into a new contingent fee agreement with his client
• Failed to explain to the client the distinction that his own professional corporation was handling the case, as opposed to Michigan Auto Law
• Failed to explain a matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation
• Failed to enter into a written contingent fee agreement with the proper parties
• Violated or attempted to violate the Rules of Professional Conduct, knowingly assisted or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished Davey by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and assessed him costs of $1,667.83.  

As one would suspect, Davey and his firm fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on their self-serving website at www.davidchristensenlaw.com. Apparently, they chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting his future victim pool.
