Attorney Michael Davis of Wilmington, DE; ethical troll

The state of Delaware provided Michael R. Davis with a law license in 2004 after he graduated from Widener University School of Law.

FYI: Widener is ranked as the 168th best law school in the country out of 202 ABA accredited schools.

The Delaware Supreme court found Mikey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Knowingly failed to pay on a timely basis $48,000 in transfer taxes due and owing by law for the purchase of his personal residence, for which he had performed the closing
  • Failed to segregate and safeguard third party funds
  • Filed a transfer tax return and affidavit of exemption for his personal residence, which misrepresented that this transaction was exempt from transfer tax payment obligations
  • Directed staff members to have seven documents, for six different real estate transactions, notarized by another lawyer, when Mikey had not signed the document in that lawyer’s presence
  • It was undisputed that the other lawyer never signed any of the notarizations
  • Mikey’s course of misconduct was knowing, caused both actual and potential injury and was undertaken for personal financial gain

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Delaware Supreme Court punished Matty by gifting him with a complimentary 18-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. February 2020) Mikey practices with Davis Law LLC at 1011 Centre Road in Wilmington, Delaware.
