Former Judge June L. Johnson of Ft.Lauderdale; serial scofflaw

The state of Florida presented June Laran Johnson with a law license in 1977

For fifteen years, Johnson sat as a County Court Judge for the 17th Judicial Circuit for Broward County in Fort Lauderdale.

During her tenure on the bench, the Judicial Qualifications Commission charged June with knowingly and repeatedly falsifying public records by backdating pleas accepted in DUI cases. In many instances, Judge Johnson ordered court personnel to assist in illegally backdating public records.

When the case went to the Florida Supreme Court, it stated:
  • There is not question that Johnson knew what she was doing
  • The backdating of these records was a knowingly falsification which was repeated many times
  • Making matters worse, she ordered court personnel to assist her
  • We agree that she committed a fraud on the Dept of Motor Vehicles
  • A person committing acts of this nature cannot be permitted to remain a judge
The Supreme Court then ordered that Judge June Johnson be removed from the bench.

Because Judicial Misfits in Florida are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Judge Johnson was never criminally charged for falsifying public records.

Moreover, there is no indication that her law license was revoked as a result of her egregious misconduct.
