Attorney David Karn of Clanton, AL; ethical goblin

The state of Alabama presented David Brian Karn with a law license in 1984 after he graduated from Samford University School of Law.

The Alabama State Bar Association found Davey guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to provide competent representation (moron)
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Filed an accounting which failed to list the beginning balance of the estate, contained calculation errors and was not supported by documentation
• Accounting submitted to probate court accounting disclosed that Davey paid himself $44,588 from the estate’s assets, which was not authorized
• by the probate court
• Violated or attempted to violate the Rules of Professional Conduct, knowingly assisted or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another
• Engaged in conduct that adversely reflects on his fitness to practice law

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished Davey by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. January 2020), Davey practices in Clanton, Alabama.
