Attorney Carol Sopkovich of Warren, OH; ethical goblin

The state of Ohio presented Carol Anne Sopkovich with a law license in 1983 after she graduated from the University of Akron School of Law.

FYI: The University of Akron is ranked as the 147th best law school in the country out of 200 ABA (American Bar Association) accredited law schools.

Disciplinary Counsel of the Ohio Supreme Court found Carol guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Misrepresented financial statutes of client to Dept. of Human Services to qualify the client for public assistance
• Failed to maintain client funds in a fiduciary account
• Improperly paid herself several thousand dollars in fees in probate matter without prior approval of probate judge
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
• Engaged in numerous instances of deception
• Failed to advise probate court that she paid herself $2022.57 in interest involving client probate matter

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Carol by gifting her with a complimentary 180-day suspension of her law license.

As we speak (ca. February 2020), Carol practices with Martin F. White Co., LPA at 156 Park Avenue NE in Warren, Ohio.
