Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA): Today’s “Rodney Dangerfield” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.)
Today’s “Rodney Dangerfield” Award Winner

Pat Toomey is the first term U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania. During the ongoing disputes over raising the debt ceiling to prevent the government from defaulting on its obligations, Rodney argued that allowing the government to default wasn’t really a big deal.

Of course one of the government’s ongoing obligations is to issue Social Security checks. Rodney was asked by reporter Andy Sullivan of Reuters if Social Security payments were suspended if he worried it “would push the country back into recession.”

The Comedian said he wasn’t worried. “I don’t think it’s going to have an adverse impact on the economy in the days, weeks or perhaps even months that this would continueRodney’s statement that the nonpayment of monthly Social Security benefits to millions and millions of seniors wouldn’t “adversely impact the economy” doesn’t pass the involuntary laugh test. However, it does forever cement Patty’s status as an up and coming standup comedian.

Congrats Patty; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as a celebrated standup comedian; you are far too humble.
