Attorney William Sweeney of Marlton, NJ; ethical troll

The state of New Jersey presented William F. Sweeney with a law license in 1992 after he graduated from Rutgers University School of Law.

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Billy guilty of the following misconduct, all of which involved his dealings in several real estate matters.

  • Wrote checks for unauthorized expenses of $229,000 on mother’s checking account
  • Improperly used mother’s funds to pay his living expenses
  • Improperly used mother’s funds to pay $42,000 American Express bill, personal income taxes, and education loans for Tommy’s children
  • Tommy also improperly used mother’s funds to purchase windows, a new boiler, and steam lines for his home
  • Continued to write checks on mother’s account until she died
  • Made misrepresentations (lied) to his sisters about status of mother’s funds

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 1-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Billy.

As we speak (ca. February 2020) Billy practices in Marlton, New Jersey.
