Attorney Richard Batts of Rocky Mount, NC; slacker, loser

The state of North Carolina provided Richard Earl Batts with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from North Carolina State University School of Law.

The Committee on Professional Conduct found Dick guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to produce client for duly noticed deposition
  • Failed to comply with written and oral court orders regarding discovery responses and depositions
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to expedite client litigation
  • Failed to reasonably consult with his client about the means by which the client's objectives were to be accomplished
  • Failed to explain a matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. February 2020) Dick practices with Richard E. Batts PLLC at 1330 Benvenue Road in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
