Judge Thomas Placey of Carlisle, PA; bully, lifetime porker

The state of Pennsylvania provided Thomas Placey with a law license in 1990 after he graduated from the Dickinson School of Law.

Tommy has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the last twenty-seven (27) years (ca. 1992 to 2019). Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Harrisburg area was about to offer Tommy a good paying job.

The Pennsylvania Judicial Conduct Board is investigating Tommy for engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Violated a party’s due process rights in a marital matter
  • Made legally dubious (far-fetched) arguments in his opinions in a marital case
  • Panel of judges ruled that Tommy’s actions in marital matter “were intemperate, and raise the appearance of bias”
  • Yelled at court staff member after asserting she spoke out of turn
  • Escalated his demeanor from calm to visible anger and shouting while on the bench was nearly instantaneous
  • Attorney Jeanne Costopoulos said she had experienced other cases wherein Tommy’s anger had resulted in cases not being fully heard before he issued an opinion
  • Ms. Costopoulos stated: “I’ve had cases where he literally won’t give you a hearing.”

All that remains now is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Tommy by the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Conduct Board.

As we speak (ca. November 2019), Tommy continues to sit as a Cumberland County Common Pleas Judge in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
