Attorney Tonza Ruffin of Windsor, NC; repeat offender

The state of North Carolina provided Tonza Demetria Ruffin with a law license in 2000 after she graduated from Georgia State University School of Law.

The Committee on Professional Conduct found Tonza guilty of the following misconduct.

Tonza’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to report embezzlement of former law partner to the authorities

As a direct consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Tonza by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.  

Tonza’s 2^nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Engaged in a conflict of interest by representing first-degree murder defendant whose co-defendant was represented by a lawyer that she was dating
• Failed to obtain client’s consent to the above referenced conflict
• Lied to trial judge that client had signed a waiver re: conflict of interest
• Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As a direct consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Tonza by gifting her with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. February 2020) Tonza practices at 102 East Granville in Windsor, North Carolina.
