Attorney Leslie Van Der Have of Greenville, NC; ethical troll

The state of North Carolina provided Leslie Gibbs Van Der Have with a law license in 2001 after she graduated from Campbell University School of Law.

The Committee on Professional Conduct found Leslie guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Improperly allowed the guardian of an individual person access to fiduciary funds
  • Improperly allowed the guardian of the person to write checks to cash and to use a debit card on an account containing fiduciary funds
  • Failed to timely file annual accounts, and established financial arrangements that made it impossible to account accurately for fiduciary funds
  • Failed to timely file mandatory annual accounts with the Clerk of Court
  • Failed to properly maintain and disburse fiduciary funds by allowing the guardian of the person to have access to the fiduciary funds in this fiduciary account, allowing the guardian of the person to withdraw cash at will from the fiduciary funds in this fiduciary account

As a direct consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Leslie by gifting her with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. February 2020) Leslie practices at 3740 South Evans Street in Greenville, North Carolina.
