Attorney John Beatrice of Salem, MA; ethical leprechaun

The state of Massachusetts presented John M. Beatrice with a law license in 1991 after he graduated from Boston University School of Law.

The Board of Bar Overseers found Johnny guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to maintain complete records of the receipt, maintenance, and disposition of clients’ funds in his trust accounts
  • Wrote several checks on insufficient funds account (rubber)
  • Failed to prepare and maintain chronological check registers that showed the current balance in each IOLTA account after each deposit or withdrawal
  • Failed to maintain client ledgers documenting that he had not disbursed funds from the trust account in amounts that would create a negative balance with respect to
  • any individual client
  • Failed to prepare and maintain reconciliation reports at least every sixty days showing three-way reconciliation of the IOLTA accounts

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Overseers punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. September 2020) Johnny practices at 27 Congress Street in Salem, Massachusetts.
