Attorney Edward Dorsey of Carbondale, IL; ethical goblin

The state of Illinois presented Edward Dorsey with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology School of Law.

FYI: Illinois Institute of Technology is ranked as the 149th best law school in the country out of 202 ABA accredited schools.

The Disciplinary Commission found Eddie guilty of the following misconduct.

• Converted funds owed to client medical providers
• Endorsed a settlement check with the signature of a medical provider without that provider’s permission
• Failed to hold property of a client or third person that is in the lawyer's possession in connection with a representation separate from the lawyer's own property
• Failed to hold the monies paid to him for client lienholders in his trust account
• Failed to prepare and maintain complete records of client trust accounts as required in Supreme Court Rule 769
• Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Eddie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
