Attorney Mark Broaddus of Chicago; ethical goblin

The state of Illinois presented Mark E. Broaddus with a law license in 1991 after he graduated from the University of Louisville School of Law.

The Disciplinary Commission found Karlo guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Drafted a document that purported to amend a deceased woman's trust agreement, and then sent that document to his client (the woman's grandnephew, who was also the successor trustee of the trust) with instructions to backdate the document with a date from before the woman's death
  • Client took backdated document to a bank in unsuccessful attempt to have the bank transfer an account in the woman's name into the trust
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Failed to correctly advise his associate about the circumstances of the sham document's creation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Karlo by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (October 2019), Mark practices with Chuak & Tecson at 30 South Wacker Drive in Chicago, Illinois.

As one would suspect, Mark fails to mention the misconduct alluded to above on his website at www.chuhak.com. Apparently, Mark and his firm chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting his and/or their future victim pool.
