Judge Beatrice Rocha of Horseshoe, TX; ethical goblin

The Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct found Judge Rocha guilty of the following misconduct.

• Used prestige of her judicial office to advance her private interests
• In her personal divorce action, her husband had a female “house sitter” who had been arrested for a DWI
• In a series of phone calls, Rocha identified herself as a justice of the peace and spoke with people about the woman’s DWI case status, and the woman’s minor children, among other things

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Judge Rocha by gifting her with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. November 2019), Beatrice continues to sit as a Travis County Court-at-Law No. 3 judge in Austin, Texas.
