Attorney Andrew Geisterfer of Alberta, CAN; ethical goblin

The Law Society of Alberta presented Andrew P. Geisterfer with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from the University of Alberta School of Law.

The Alberta Law Society Disciplinary Counsel found Andy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Engaged in a business transaction with a client with respect to a numbered company of which they were both shareholders, where the client did not have independent legal representation
• Failed to document his advice to the client that he should obtain independent legal advice
• Engaged in actions which were oppressive, or which violated reasonable expectations of integrity

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Board punished Andy by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license and assessed costs of $2,500.00.

As one would suspect, Andy fails to mention the alleged misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.masuchlaw.com. Apparenlty, Andy and his firm decided to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for fear it would limit his future victim pool.
