Judge Thomas Power of Traverse City, MI; biased moron

The state of Michigan presented Thomas G. Power with a law license in 1974 after he graduated from the University of Michigan School of Law.

It should be noted that Tommy has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the past thirty-seven (37) years.

In one matter, Tommy presided over the case of Samantha Lynn Hughes, a pregnant woman who was convicted earlier of methamphetamine use and tampering with her electronic monitor.

During a hearing on her probation violation, Tommy sentenced Hughes to 13 to 24 months in prison. In sentencing Hughes, Tommy ignorantly claimed he was doing it to prevent any damage to the fetus prior to her delivery date, a date he well knew would fall while she was imprisoned pursuant to his sentence of her.

Subsequently, Hughes’ lawyers appealed Tommy’s asinine sentencing to the local appellate court. In reversing Tommy, the court said in part:

• “Our review of the trial court’s articulated reasoning for fashioning defendant’s sentence begs the conclusion that but for defendant’s pregnancy, the trial court would have imposed a different or lesser sentence.”
• “Essentially, the trial court determined defendant’s sentence term based on her pregnancy due date.”
• “Imposition of the sentence is constitutionally inappropriate, prejudicial, and exemplifies extreme bias.”

Of course, Tommy doesn’t much give a damn how many times his unconstitutional rulings are reversed by a higher court because he knows that no Michigan judge has ever been tossed off the bench for being an ignoramus, extreme bias and/or violating a defendant’s constitutional rights.

As we speak (ca. August 2019), Tommy continues to sit as a 13^th Circuit Court Judge in Traverse City, Michigan.
