Attorney Spencer Smith of San Francisco; ethical troll

The State of California presented Spencer Freeman Smith with a law license in 2005 after he graduated from the University of Cincinnati School of Law.

The California State Bar Court found Spence guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Exhibited indifference Toward Rectification of Misconduct
  • Failed to obey court order
  • Failed to timely provide two clients with notices
  • Failed to timely file declaration of compliance with court rules
  • Judge ruled Spence willfully violated court rules

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the State Bar Court punished Spence by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. August 2019), Spence practices with Smith Patten at 50 California Street in San Francisco, California.
