Former Judge David Gibson of Austin, TX; ethical troll

The state of Texas presented David Arthur Gibson with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from the University of Texas School of Law.

The State Commission on Judicial Conduct found Davey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to recuse himself from case when recusal was mandatory
  • Accepted gift from attorney representing him personally in custody matter while same attorney represented Yahoo in case then pending before Davey
  • Failed to comply with the law [scofflaw]
  • Failed to act in manner that promotes public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary
  • Improperly allowed personal relationship to influence his judicial conduct or judgment
  • Failed to perform his judicial duties without bias or prejudice
  • Improperly lent prestige of his judicial office to advance his private interests or that of others
  • Approved compensation of appointees beyond the fair value of services rendered
  • Improperly influenced by his relationship with Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban
  • Failed to comply with court-issued subpoena [Screw you, said Davie!)

Rather than await a decision to be rendered by the Texas Supreme Court that would likely have led to him being removed from the bench, Davie took the cowards way out and resigned.

As we speak (ca. June 2019), Davey practices in Austin, Texas.
