Judge Jose Sandoval of Los Angeles; slacker, repeat offender

The State of California presented Jose I. Sandoval with a law license in 1988 after he graduated from the University of California Berkeley School of Law.

It should be noted that former Gov. Gray Davis was duped into appointing Jose as a Superior Court judge in December 2000. Jose didn’t get the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater Los Angeles area. He received it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

The Commission on Judicial Performance found Jose guilty of the engaging in the following misconduct.

Jose’s 1st bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in illegal ex parte (one-sided) communication
  • Delayed in ruling on criminal defendant’s motion
  • Failed to act with due diligence [slacker]

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Jose by gifting him with a complimentary advisory letter.

Jose’s 2nd bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to perform his judicial duties competently [moron]
  • Failed to act with due diligence [slacker]
  • Failed to resentence a criminal defendant for over three years after being directed to do so by the Court of Appeal
  • In response to ethics investigators, lied that he had no “prior history of discipline” despite the undisputed fact that he received an advisory letter as set forth in Bite No. 1 above
  • Reflected lack of appreciation for the impropriety of his conduct
  • Issued 16 continuances on resentencing hearing he was ordered to conduct by the Court of Appeal
  • Laughingly claimed that none of the 16 continuances over the period of 3 years was the result of his failure to perform his judicial duties

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Jose by gifting him with a complimentary admonishment.

As we speak (ca. May 2019) Jose continues to sit as a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge in Los Angeles, California.
