Attorney Alan Mauk of Ames, IA; ethical gremlin

The state of Iowa presented Alan Matthew Mauk with a law license in 2006 after he graduated from the University of Iowa Law School.

The Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board found Alan guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Received default notice from Supreme Court for failing to file and service appellate appendix and fined $150
  • Failed to comply with Supreme Court order to file appendix and was therefore summarily removed from the matter by the Court
  • Failed to properly supervise office staff
  • Removed by Supreme Court for a second time for neglecting client appeal
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to expedite client litigation

As one would suspect, this isn’t Johnny’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary admonishment for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Alan by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. April 2019), Alan practices with the Mauk Law Office in Ames, Iowa.
