Attorney Juan Burgos-Gandia of Richardson, TX; thief, repeat offender

The state of Texas presented Juan Luis Burgos-Gandia with a law license in 2004 after he graduated from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law.

The District 6 Grievance Committee found Juan guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Failed to comply with client information requests
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Brigida!)
  • Neglected client legal matter
  • Failed to explain legal matter to client to allow the client to make informed decisions about the case
  • Failed to hold unearned fees in separate trust account
  • Failed to refund unearned advance fees upon termination [crook]
  • Ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution to client [victim]

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Juan’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary suspension of his law license for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Juan by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 12-month suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Juan.

As we speak (ca. July 2019), Juan practices with Burgos & Burgos at 100 North Central Expressway in Richardson, Texas.
