Attorney Stuart Oliphint of Fort Worth, TX; ethical gnome

The state of Texas presented Stuart R. Oliphint with a law license in 1994 after he graduated from South Texas College School of Law.

The District 7 Grievance Committee found Stu guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Frequently failed to carry out completely the obligations he owed to his client
  • Failed to obtain the divorce for the client
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Failed to comply with client information requests
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Stu!)
  • Ordered to pay $1,500.00 in restitution to his client [victim]

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Stu by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 12-month suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Stu.

As we speak (ca. May 2019), Stu practices at 2245 North Main Street in Fort Worth, Texas.
